The Road

This piece seems to blend all the aspects of dark art into one. The predominantly cool colours depict a place of discomfort and perhaps dread while the red and light blue add a sense of mystery to it. It is very interesting how you used red throughout this piece as it fulfills multiple purposes. The red in the door portrays that it leads to hell-like place. The red at the hem of the dress and on the knife communicates that this women may have lead a life of violence or is fleeing violence. The red eyes of the creature demonstrate that they are not friends, then the red scattered throughout the landscape add to the mystery cause you aren't completely sure if the red are plants, blood, or something else entirely.

The woman standing before a door that leads to somewhere that appears unpleasant heightens the mystery surrounding this piece. Why is she there? What are her intentions, given her facial expression doesn't communicate them until one barely notices the knife? Is the doorway leading to she most wants to be or the place she most wants to avoid?

Overall a beautiful piece. I give it 5/5 stars.
